Week 40 Mothers Day Skype

We got to talk to Taylor on Saturday morning for about 45 minutes.  He looked great and was extremely happy.  He is training an elder who is waiting for his Visa and who has not yet been to the MTC.  Once he gets his VISA he will go to the Brazil MTC.  His family is a self sufficient family.  They don't work and they grow their own food and live off what they have.  Taylor really likes his companion and says he is very funny.  He was baptized over a year ago and he is 25.  He came to Taylor with not very much stuff and the Mission President had Taylor go and buy him everything that he would need.  He said that there are never any awkward moments in Africa.  You just say what you have to say and everyone is ok with it.  I can't remember what else was said but he loves being a missionary and he is doing an awesome job.  Here is a quick note from Taylor.

prosiliting here in a bit!! but I told you all that was really going on.  The one thing I forgot to say when we were skyping was happy mothers day!! He doesn't know what he wants to do yet but I told him if I come back to Africa and start a business I will hire him!! haha

Week 39 I will answer questions

Hey family I don't have much time today we are running late but I have some pictures and I will answer the questions.

How are you liking your new area?  YES

Do you go to a different church building or are you in the same church building?  DIFFERENT ITS SMALLER

How is your new companion? AWESOME

How come he hasn’t gone through the temple yet? THERE IS NO TEMPLE HERE IN MOCAMBIQUE AND WHEN HE ENTERS THE MTC HE WILL GO THROUGH

Did you go and buy him everything he needs? ALMOST

What is his story?  What does his family do? I WILL TELL YOU DURING SKYPE

Do you live in the same house with your companion of 2 days? YES

Best thing that happened to you this week? WE HAD A SWEET LESSON WITH A GUY WE FOUND AND IT WAS PROBABLY THE BEST LESSON I HAVE HAD HERE

Worst thing that happened to you this week? NOT MANY PEOPLE CAME TO CHURCH

Any new investigators?  YES 27

Week 38 Emergency Transfer

Heyy everyone!!!!! So these last few weeks I have been a slacker on writing!!!! but all is well here!!!

Monday: TRANSFERS I got transferred to Munhava which is like a 10 min drive from my old area!!! and my comps name is Elder Shumway! So my area reminds me of my first area but way poorer these houses are barley houses but the people are very humble!! 

Tues :Tuesday we spent exploring my new area so I could get to know it then I  met our investigators and had a few lessons went home and slept!

WED: I just explored my new area and taught some people!!! It was a solid day.

Thurs: We woke up  and EMERGENCY TRANSFER I found out that I was moving areas to the other side of the road and training!!!! So I am white washing an area and training!!! My new comps name is Elder Victor from Mocambique!!! So I don't have to do a lot of language training but he has a lot of training to do!!!  He has to teach me the language so I can speak perfect!! So we spent that day cleaning the house because we got one more couple of missionaries in our house because my ex comp got a new comp as well but he is from Brazil and already out 12 months on the mission

Friday: Received  my new comp,  president came to our house and told me that I had to buy him a bunch of stuff because he had like nothing and that I will get reimbursed so as my comp was unpacking I saw that he didn't have any underwear  so I asked him and he said he only had one pair and had been wearing them for 3 days!! (He hasn't been through the temple yet) so we went to the local market where you can find  almost anything you want used clothes shoes and all the stuff that gets donated to here from america you can find!!! So we went shopping and I had to use my personal money because I didn't have any on my mission card because it was the end of the month!  So we spent all day buying things for him.

Saturday: the other two pairs of elders had marriages and baptisms so we went to help clean and set up stuff. We got to the chapel at 8 in the morning and left at 8 at night so we didn't get to go into our area!

Sun: went to church and went home and studied and finally got into our area!!!!!!! so we explored it a little and did contacts and ended the day with 2 lessons and  7 contacts but our area we have one member family and that's it no one has worked their so we are hopping we will have lots of success!! It's going to be a fun transfer!!!!

·        Tell me about your new companion?he is a native and is short and funny and doesn't know how to use a washing machine.

·        Where is he from? Nampula

·        What do his parents do? I dont know

·        Does he have a blog I can follow? NO

·        Do you like him and do you get along with him good? YES I LIKE HIM A LOT(I will not post this answer if it is badJ)

·        How is the new house or apartment you are living in? almost as nice as the last one

·        Is it a lot different than your last area?YES everything is compacted and is very poor

·        How is the ward? good

·        Do they have many members? 160-200

·        I am going to ask this for the 100^th time, did you get my package and did everything arrive ok in it!!  Two of the games were from Kinzie and Sean for your Christmas present.YES THANK YOU AND I ATE ALMOST EVERYTHING AND I GOT ONE FROM COUSIN BETH

·        Do you have many people you are teaching? NO

·        Something you learned this week that you didn’t know last week? THAT MUNHAVA IS VERY POOR

Week 37 Transfers to Munhava!!

Did you eat anything gross this week?  NOPE EVERYTHING HERE IS GOOD

Weirdest thing you saw since you have been out there.  WOMEN PEEING AND POOPING STANDING UP IN THE ROAD IN FRONT OF ALL TO SEE

What is something that you are learning about yourself? I WANT TO BE VERY SUCCESSFUL IN LIFE

Are you getting along with all the other elders?  YES

Hey family!  How are you? This week was a good week. We did a lot of teaching this week not much finding but I got transferred this week I'm a little sad I didn't want to leave my area but its whatever. I don't have much to say this week but Elder  Roberts is doing good and is working hard! and hopefully i get my package this next week!! I love you guys and have a good week I get to talk to you on Skype next month! I love you.

Week 36 Another Short Letter

SORRY THIS WEEK IT WILL BE A VERY SHORT EMAIL BUT I WILL ANSWER THE QUESTIONS

I had a good week this week we had one baptism of a young woman had a lot of lessons and we are working very hard! We found a few new great families and hoping to get 6 families baptized next transfer!!!

NEVER HAHA LIKE HERE IN ONE MONTH AND IT ONLY GETS TO LIKE 80

How is it going with getting families to the temple? WE JUST TEACH THEM ABOUT THE TEMPLE AND WHAT THEY NEED TO DO TO GET THERE WITH PASSPORTS AND STUFF

LETTER FROM MISSION PRESIDENT

(Mothers note:  It is so nice to know that your son is working hard and being obedient, it makes your heart happy and proud of your missionary)

Dear Parents and Leaders of Missionary from Mozambique Maputo Mission,



Your missionary is doing great. All are in good health and today we are having zero problems with that and obedience. The mission is growing and the Sacrament attendence is growing each Sunday.

About 20 months a go the Sacrament attendency was 1700 in 18 branches. Today the Lord bless us with 3200 total in 24 branches. It's a miracle. What your missionary is doing here is amazing and have no words to thank you for prepare such a great missionary. I think we can have wonderful missionaries in other missions even great ones like we have here, but not better. We really enjoy work with them and my wife love them as her own sons and daugthers. They are adorable!

Please, keep praying for them, and the families that they are working with. By the way, since we start to mesure that, (Dec2012) the Lord bless us and they baptize 274 complete families! Is not a miracle? More than 85% of than is active on the church!

Our next big goal is send these families to the Temple this year, will be a big chalenge, but for God nothing in impossible, and our missionaries knows that.
